Chicago Global Donors Network, the Donors Forum, and the Funders Network on Trade and Globalization invite you to this briefing by national funders and local organizations who will provide an introduction to the World Social Forum and the US Social Forum.

Speakers will include:
Mark Randazzo, Funders Network on Trade and Globalization
Jeff Furman, Ben & Jerry's Foundation Trustee and FNTG board member.

The US Social Forum (USSF) will take place June 22-26, 2010 in Detroit, with an estimated 20,000 people attending from around the country and the world. Many Chicago organizations and individuals affected by the current economic crisis because of local and state government budget cuts, rising unemployment and increased poverty will use the U.S. Social Forum as an opportunity to work together for economic justice. Participants will explore ways they can be more engaged in the US Social Forum beyond providing financial resources.

“The US Social Forum is more than a conference, more than a networking bonanza, more than a reaction to war and repression. The USSF will provide space to build relationships, learn from each other's experiences, share our analysis of the problems our communities face, and bring renewed insight and inspiration. It will help develop leadership and develop consciousness, vision, and strategy needed to realize another world.”

This briefing is free of charge but registration is required. NGOs and philanthropic advisors who are interested in attending are strongly encouraged to bring a donor or client.
